Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Homeless Prevention Manager to work with one of our Local Authority clients in Sussex.
What the job will be doing?
- Leading and managing the day-to-day operational delivery of the Housing Advice and Homelessness Prevention Service
- Ensuring the Council's statutory homelessness duties are discharged effectively and in accordance with current legislation
- Providing leadership, guidance and oversight on complex homelessness and housing options cases
- Supporting legal challenges, including Judicial Reviews and Section 204 appeals
- Driving a prevention-focused approach to homelessness, ensuring innovative and cost-effective solutions are identified for residents
- Managing referrals received under the Duty to Refer and ensuring timely interventions are delivered
- Working closely with Housing Associations, landlords and partner agencies to prevent homelessness at the earliest opportunity
- Developing and implementing service improvements to enhance customer outcomes and service performance
- Building strong partnerships with Social Care, Health Services, Probation, Police and voluntary sector organisations
- Representing the service at multi-agency meetings including MARAC and MAPPA panels
- Monitoring service performance, KPIs and casework quality to ensure legal compliance and excellent customer service
- Managing, coaching and developing Housing Options Officers through regular supervision, appraisals and training
- Producing performance reports and statistical information for senior management
- Leading the team through legislative and organisational change whilst maintaining high service standards
What you will need?
- Significant experience within Housing Options, Homelessness Prevention or Housing Needs services
- Strong knowledge of Housing Act 1996 Part VII, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and associated legislation
- Experience managing homelessness prevention teams within a Local Authority environment
- Experience overseeing complex homelessness cases and making legally robust decisions
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, domestic abuse, MAPPA and MARAC processes
- Experience managing staff performance, workloads and service delivery targets
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to develop effective partnerships with internal and external agencies
- Experience driving service improvement and implementing operational changes
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
