Brook has been with Marks Consulting Partners for 3.5 years, originally joining the Regeneration & Development desk before moving to the Property & Surveying desk, covering the South East. Recently promoted to Team Lead, she brings a strong work ethic, determination and plenty of energy to the team.

But Brook doesn’t just shine in recruitment. She’s also our (self-appointed and much-loved) Social Media Manager, a role she may secretly prefer! Brook runs all of our social media channels and is the creative force behind the engaging videos that have gained over 3million views and helped us attract new talent.

Fast forward to today, Matthew is now an Associate Director specialising in the property and surveying industry, helping public sector client’s source technical candidates.

With a degree in Psychology, he likes to think he has a decent read on people. And this does show with how closely he works with his clients and candidates to make recruiting as smooth as possible.

Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Damp/Disrepair Surveyor to work with one of our Housing Associations clients in South London.

What the job will be doing?

  • To provide specialist surveying expertise to address legal disrepair claims and manage damp and mould cases within our housing stock.
  • Be able to diagnose damp and mould issues and provide expert compliant reports for legal cases and remedial actions.
  • Including the preparation of Scott schedules, and to ensure the timely resolution of issues, compliance with legislation, and the delivery of high-quality housing services to tenants and end users.
  • To be able to navigate both the physical aspects of property assessment and the procedural requirements of legal disputes, ensuring their work supports fair outcomes for all parties in accordance with the Pre action protocol.

What you will need?

  • The ideal candidate will be well organised, professional with a passion for ensuring high housing standards and a keen eye for detail, having extensive technical expertise, legal awareness, and strong communication skills both written and Oral.
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in diagnosing and resolving legal disrepair claims and damp/mould issues in residential properties.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of housing legislation, including the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, the Defective Premises Act 1972, and the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023
