Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Tenancy Sustainment Officer to work with one of our Housing Association clients in London.
What the job will be doing?
- Managing a caseload of vulnerable residents, providing intensive tenancy sustainment support to prevent tenancy failure.
- Completing holistic needs assessments, home visits, risk assessments and personalised support plans.
- Providing specialist advice on Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Discretionary Housing Payments, Household Support Fund and other welfare benefits.
- Supporting residents with benefit applications, appeals, mandatory reconsiderations and income maximisation.
- Working proactively with residents experiencing financial hardship, helping them access grants, charitable funding and debt advice.
- Identifying safeguarding concerns and making referrals to Social Care and specialist support agencies where appropriate.
- Working closely with Housing Officers, Income Officers and external organisations to deliver joined-up support.
- Supporting residents to develop independent living skills and improve long-term tenancy sustainability.
- Chairing multi-agency meetings and coordinating support plans for complex cases.
- Maintaining accurate case records, support plans and performance information using housing management systems.
- Promoting employment, training and financial inclusion opportunities to residents.
- Supporting service improvements and contributing towards resident satisfaction and tenancy sustainment targets.
- Responding to complaints and delivering a high-quality, resident-focused service.
What you will need?
- Experience working as a Tenancy Sustainment Officer, Welfare Benefits Adviser, Income Maximisation Officer or in a similar resident support role.
- Strong knowledge of Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, welfare reform and income maximisation.
- Experience supporting vulnerable residents with complex housing, financial or welfare needs.
- Experience carrying out home visits, needs assessments and developing support plans.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, tenancy sustainment and homelessness prevention.
- Experience working collaboratively with local authorities, health services and external support agencies.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage residents from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience managing a busy caseload and maintaining detailed case records.
